Know the JPJ rules
In Malaysia, the front windscreen must allow at least 70% light (VLT), front side windows at least 50%. Rear windows may be darker. A reputable installer will always keep you compliant.
Heat rejection vs darkness
Dark does not equal cool. Cheap dyed films look dark but reject little heat. Ceramic films can reject 80%+ of infrared heat even at legal VLT levels.
Film types
Dyed: cheapest, fades over time. Titanium/metallised: better heat rejection but may affect GPS/Smart Tag signal. Ceramic: best heat rejection, no signal interference, longest warranty.
Warranty matters
Quality films carry 5-year to lifetime warranties against bubbling and fading. Keep your receipt and warranty card.
